Getting ready for Christmas – Christmas Deep Cleaning Checklist: How to prepare your home for the Holiday with EcoBlue Cleaners Calgary





Christmas is almost here! It`s that time of the year again, full of family and friends gatherings, hosting a party and celebration at home. So it`s a good idea to start prepare your home for Christmas by cleaning and tidying the different areas of your home. Sure, the Christmas holidays are a wonderful season, but it`s also the most stressfull and busiest time of the year for most families, if you may feel overwhelmed trying to prepare your home to receive guests, you are not alone. Kitchen and Dining Room:

If you are hosting a big family Christmas dinner this year, the kitchen will be the heart of your home. However, the kitchen isn`t just about cooking and storing food and dinnerware, so here are some kitchen cleaning tasks need to be done during a deep cleaning.
  • Clean in and outside of microwave, wash the plate
  • Empty out fridge and freezer to wash all the shelves, drawers, and clean inside of the fridge
  • Pull out and clean behind and underneath, if possible
  • Clean on top of the refridgerator
  • Clean the exterior of dishwasher

Also here are some extra kitchen tasks you may wish to get done during the before Christmas tidy-up. These are not included in EcoBlue Cleaners deep cleaning checklist, but these additional services can be included in your deep cleaning once you book with us.
  • Remove any out of date food from fridge and cabinets and get plenty of room for things.
  • Try to reach the bottom of the sink or end of dishwasher cycles. There is nothing worse than getting ready for the Christmas dinner and finding that the glassware, cutlery, pots and pans still stuffed in the sink or sitting on the countertop waiting for the wash.
  • If you plan to use any special glassware and dishes, be sure to clean, rinse and dry these before guests arrive.
  • Pull out your oven to clean both sides and the cabinets beside, as well as vacuum, sweep and mop the floor underneath.
  • Clean grout between tiles.
  • Wash interior windows, if the weather is not extremely cold.
  • Empty, clean, sort and organize inside of the cabinets, drawers and shelves


Bathrooms:

Throughout the festive period your bathroom will be used more as you invite family, friends, neighbors and other guests over. So one of the most important things to do during the before Christmas deep clean is to get your bathrooms cleaned and sanitized, and just try to maintain this level of cleanliness to prevent the spread of germs by doing a quick 10 minutes bathroom tidy up every day.

  • Dust vents, light fixtures, baseboards and blinds
  • Empty trash and change garbage bags

Here are some additional tasks you may want to get done in your bathroom during the pre- Christmas clean up. These are not included in our deep cleaning checklist, but can be added as an extra service at the booking.
  • Through away any trash or empty shampoo and soap dispenser
  • Get rid of any dirty laundry still stuffed in the laundry basket waiting for the wash before the family arrive.
  • If you have any special holiday outfits or linens and towels, that you plan to use wash, iron and fold all in advance, don`t spend the last days of shopping folding laundry.
  • Put out fresh towels, ensure there is plenty of toilet paper and clean towels,
  • Empty, remove trash, clean and organize inside of cabinets
  • Clean or change shower curtains


Living Room and Other Common Areas


Prior to the big day, it`s also very important to tidy up your living room, because this is the area where your family and guests will sit opening up gifts. Vacuuming your living room is important before your kids sit on the floor opening and playing with their presents.

  • Dust all furniture and surfaces, light fixtures, ceiling fans, lamp shades, and blinds
  • Remove cobwebs
